Rusalka is a women's vocal quartet that celebrates the musical traditions of Eastern Europe, Israel, Russia and its neighbors. Our music is a sampling of the regional genres that includes love songs, lullabies, celebrations of the natural world and stories of every day life. The three and four part harmonies are hauntingly beautiful representations of vocal styles that have existed since antiquity.
In Slavic mythology, a Rusalka is a nymph or sprite that dwells in a lake or river. Rusalki are believed to have powers over men, mesmerizing them with their songs and dances. We reclaim the story of the Rusalki and embody their grace, strength and ability to transform audiences through song. Instead of an evil temptress we embrace our namesake as a manifestation of strength with an enchanted voice.
